The 43rd UPR working group starts next week!

The 43rd session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) will be held in Geneva from 1 to 12 May 2023 and it will mark the third UPR Working group (WG) of the 4th cycle (November 2022-January 2027). The fourteen States to be reviewed during this session are France, Tonga, Romania, Mali, Botswana, Bahamas, Burundi, Luxembourg, Barbados, Montenegro, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Liechtenstein, Serbia.

The meeting will take place in Room XX at the Palais des Nations in Geneva and will be webcast live. UPR Info will be live tweeting the 43rd UPR WG session.

UPR Info held the Pre-sessions of the countries reviewed in 43rd UPR WG at the beginning of April 2023. Civil society organizations and national human rights institutions had the opportunity to address the key human right issues and suggest recommendations to the representatives of the Recommending States. All the documents related to the Pre-sessions as well as the national reports, compilation of UN documents and other relevant documents can be found on the country pages of UPR Info’s website.

Since the beginning of the fourth UPR cycle, 27 countries received a total of 5,966 recommendations that cover important topics related to the current human rights situations around the world.
